🔩 Project Title: Stress Analysis on Spur Gear Using ANSYS
📘 Project Description:
Spur gears are fundamental components in mechanical power transmission systems and are widely used across various machinery. This project focuses on analyzing the contact stress and deformation behavior of spur gears under operational loads using ANSYS simulation software.
In this analysis, a pair of spur gears—used in a footstep power generation mechanism—are subjected to a torque load of 50 Nm. The simulation replicates realistic boundary conditions: one gear is fixed, while torque is applied to the mating gear using a frictionless support. A high-density mesh ensures accurate stress distribution analysis.
The material selected for the gears is Mild Steel, and the simulation results show a Factor of Safety (FoS) of 2.01, indicating the design is safe for the specified load conditions. This validates the gear pair's efficiency and durability for low-speed, high-load applications such as footstep energy harvesting systems.
