Go ahead and read it!

Wait a minute, before we continue with the blog, I'd want to ask you a few questions. Please give it your all when answering the questions.

  • Have you ever given up on a drawing on paper because you didn't think it was good enough?

  • Have you ever given up hope that you'll never be able to create pseudo-realistic wonderful goods with SolidWorks after only one try?

  • Do you want to make outstanding products/images but can't seem to find your way around the internet when attempting to learn how to design?

YOU MUST READ THIS BLOG IF YOU ANSWER YES TO EITHER OF THESE QUESTIONS.

We have some exciting news for you: near the end of the blog, you will discover a link to a FREE DOWNLOAD of "A Comprehensive List Of Mechanical Engineering Jobs In India (With Application Links)."

How Can I Use My Designing Skills To Make A Living?

Designers are employed at a rate of 14% over the world (much higher than the global average). People who have finished our program have gone on to work as Lead Product Designers for some of the world's most prestigious automotive and industrial manufacturing businesses. They create a wide range of consumer goods, including bicycles, dispensers, bottles, fireplaces, light fixtures, and more.

Taking a broader view of industrial design to include designers who aren't simply working on commercial items but are also utilizing design thinking to create user experiences and other projects. Here is a complete list of designer jobs in the United States.

Here are a few of the most intriguing points:

  • California and Michigan are the only two states with more than 3,000 industrial designers each.

  • Industrial design is at an all-time high, with design patents in the United States at a 25-year high.

  • Since 1998, the following product categories have received 54 percent of design patents: furniture, recording and communication, tools and hardware, packaging, food service equipment, transportation, environmental heating and cooling, and games, toys, and sports.

  • Inventors aren't always industrial designers, but industrial designers aren't always inventors. Between 1975 and 2010, 40% of people identified on design patents were also named on utility patents, whereas only 2% of people named on utility patents were also named on design patents.

  • Overall, employment for industrial designers is forecast to expand 10.5 percent from 2015 to 2016, significantly less than the 14.3 percent growth rate expected for all occupations.

  • Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, Nike, Goodyear, Black & Decker, Wolverine World Wide, Kohler Company, Apple, 3M, and Ford are the top ten U.S. businesses by utilizing several industrial design patents.

  • Samsung, Sony, Foxconn, LG Electronics, Panasonic, Honda, Nokia, Toyota, Toshiba, and Canon are the top ten foreign businesses in terms of industrial design patents.

How Can You Master Product Design Using Only Three Skill Sets?

To become a master of product design, you just need three skills:

  • Hand Sketching is a skill that requires a lot of a.

  • 2D Modeling is a skill that you should have.

  • Photorealistic rendering is the third skill.

Skill 1:Hand Sketching

Ideation is the foundation of any invention. It's critical to get the design you want to make right before you model it in 3D.

An A2 sheet and drawing pencils are used to practice your thoughts. This is the only way to jot down any ideas you have for a product design and then translate them onto a page to work on.

During the first step of the design process, you'll need to be able to sketch by hand.

Before visualizing your design in 3D, you might start by sketching rough idea sketches, detailed sketches, and so on in the key lines and dimensions of your design. Here's an example of how to come up with ideas for a car design.

Skill 2: 3D Modeling

One of the most significant drawbacks of hand sketching is the difficulty in modeling and visualizing your finished design in three dimensions. This is especially problematic with double-curved objects such as automobiles, boats, bicycles, planes, and so on.

This is why I believe that learning 3D modeling is essential for a skilled product designer. 3D modeling will assist you in creating more detailed designs for your products. SolidWorks is the software that I prefer to use.

One of the major advantages of SolidWorks is its user-friendly interface, which allows you to learn quickly and gives you more GUI options for executing complex models. Your 3D files can be used to create technical drawings, as input for 3D printing, as input for a milling machine, and molds for injection modeling, among other things.

A product designer who lacks 3D molds molding skills is akin to a painter who is colorblind. You'll miss out on an essential opportunity to make a decent design exceptional if you don't have 3D modeling skills.

Skill 3- Photorealistic Rendering

Even though it is a clear depiction of your thoughts, there is a considerable probability that your client does not grasp your vision.

Making outstanding photorealistic renderings of your design is the single best approach to greatly boost your chances of getting the projects you desire.

Traditional design books, ePDFs, and coaching classes are all available on the market to teach you how to use the tools that a professional product designer would need.

The main issue here is that they all educate in a theoretical manner, which is not advised for learning professional design. This is because the design can never arrive at a theoretical conclusion on its own come to a conclusion

There are only three tools that will allow you to master Product Designing:

  • Adobe Photoshop

  • SolidWorks

  • Visualize in SolidWorks

This is where we set ourselves apart from the competition. EdxEngine decided on programs to assist engineers in India in becoming amazing Product Designers in a fun and practical way.
