  • How to use LinkedIn to get a Job As Mechanical Engineering

    LinkedIn is a powerful tool for job seekers in the field of mechanical engineering. In this blog, we will explore the ways in which you can use LinkedIn to get a job as a mechanical engineer, including tips on building a strong profile, networking with industry professionals, and showcasing your work. Whether you're a recent graduate or an experienced engineer looking for a new opportunity, this guide will give you the tools you need to succeed on LinkedIn. Core Mechanical Engineering job using LinkedIn If you're a mechanical engineer, you've probably heard or spoken anything like this. "During a campus interview, even small organizations arrive to hire Mechanical Engineers." "If not for a campus placement, it is difficult to get into a Mechanical Engineering core company as a Fresher." These assertions have been made to me as a mechanical engineer throughout the last decade. However, based on my personal experiences over the last eight years, I've discovered that these claims are only valid for pupils who lack technical skills. Here are a few points that lead me to believe that the statements above are not true in general. Manufacturing accounts for over 17 percent of India's GDP, compared to financial, real estate, and professional services, which account for 22 percent. While I agree that the manufacturing industry as a whole does not equal Mechanical Engineers, this number does give us an idea of the amount of Mechanical Engineers required in India in comparison to other areas. As a result, the notion that there aren't enough Mechanical Engineering jobs should be disproved. I was curious to see how well Mechanical Engineers with strong skill sets fared in the job market. I assumed that looking at the number of Mechanical Engineers employed by a main organization at IIT-Madras would provide us with some insight into the job market. In 2016, 45 of the 50 B.E. Mech graduates who attended the interview received a job offer from a core engineering firm. (2) I've listed the companies who hired them below. If you are currently studying for an undergraduate degree or looking for a job move, looking at the talents that these organizations need will give you a chance to work for them as well. Make that you have the necessary skill sets. Now that I've explained why I don't believe the "there aren't enough Mechanical Engineering jobs" claim, I'd want to show you how to find the most recent Mechanical Engineering job openings. While there are a variety of ways to look for available jobs, I'd like to start with two simple options. How to Make the Most of LinkedIn in Your Job Search How to use placements at other prestigious colleges to have a better understanding of the market and prepare yourself. Let’s start with LinkedIn. Here is a step-by-step approach: 1. Start with a straightforward LinkedIn search, such as "Mechanical Engineer." You'll get a window similar to the one below; pick the "Job" tab. 2. When you click on Jobs, a list of Mechanical Engineering jobs in your nation will appear. It will largely display if you are in India. 3. The number "16725" is worth noting. This is far too much material to wade through, and some of the posts may be useless to you. As a result, make sure you apply the required filters. Here are a few of the filters I'd suggest. 4. I received 134 results after filtering it, which is something I can work with. I started looking at jobs that required fundamental Mechanical Engineering skill sets after I had a list of them. Here are a few things to consider: Keywords: what skill sets are required for that job description? You must be quite knowledgeable in those areas. i.e. a minimum of 2-4 high-quality projects Is the position an engineering one or a manual Quality, manufacturing, shift-based position? Most engineers want to put their technical skills to use, thus I would recommend looking for an engineering position in that instance. If the job description specifies a Diploma or a BE Mech Engineer, the position is likely to be low-tech. Also, check the right side of the website, which lists the positions that people have recently looked at; these occupations might be a good fit for you. This will save you time by allowing you to quickly find the jobs that you are interested in. If you'd like to be notified when new jobs become available, click the "Send me jobs like this" button. 5. 28 opportunities suited a Mechanical Engineer for a CAE, Design & Simulations oriented profile out of the 134 job listings. The job profiles and skill sets they're searching for may be seen on the Google document here. 6. These are the most popular skill sets that recruiters are searching for in Design & Analysis. 2D & 3D Modeling, according to a mini-trend we found. Major corporations require CREO, SolidWorks, CATIA, and NX-CAD GD&T and BIW design is a requirement. CFD, MBD, FEA, and Meshing Techniques are highly sought after in analysis. 7. One thing you'll notice is that these businesses require two years of experience. According to HR professionals from many firms, "GOOD THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE AND TOOL BASED APPLICATION KNOWLEDGE" means "GOOD THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE AND TOOL BASED APPLICATION KNOWLEDGE." In my next post, I'll explain how to improve your CV to emphasize your application skills. We'll explore how to use top institutions like IIT Madras and understand which organizations are recruiting now that we know how to use LinkedIn to seek jobs. 1. Look at the companies that hire Mechanical Engineers at IIT Madras first. 2. Next, look at the current job openings in that particular company. For example, when I looked for "Airbus jobs in India," I came across this website: http://company.airbus.com/careers/jobs-and-applications/vacancies-in-india.html. The number of positions available shocked me. This is why doing some basic research is usually beneficial. 3. Recognize the skillsets that are required. Don't get hung up on the number of years of experience they require. Nobody has the required experience. So, if you have the necessary skill sets, apply for them; if not, get them. 4. Once you've found the job, go back to Google and look for it again. Take a look at who else in that company is doing the same job. Take a look at their profile and the jobs they've completed. If you've worked on similar projects before, make a cold call to them. Explain your job and inquire about how to contact the organization. While all of this appears to be a lot of work, keep in mind the quote "EFFORTS NEVER FAIL." NOTE: When looking for a job, the most crucial thing is to have the skill set that the employer is looking for. If you lack those abilities, be willing to learn them. Spend some money on yourself to acquire these abilities. Structured learning with a mentor is far superior and also aids in the acquisition of industry expertise. The data is analyzed by the modeling and data analysis engineer, who attempts to discover the parameters of the fuel cell stack and ultracapacitor. The ultimate goal is to make a model of it and sell it to customers. 2. PACKAGING DESIGN ROLE The task of package design includes determining the best possible packaging for all components, including fuel cells, batteries, ultracapacitors, electric motors, and so on.
